How to Create a Custom Fabric Stamp

To create a custom fabric stamp, begin by choosing the dimensions of your stamp. Next, decide if you would like to include a design, lettering, or both. We have a selection of clipart, and if including lettering on your name stamp for clothes or fabric, we have several different fonts and font sizes. However, you can also upload your own design in place of selecting our pre-made clipart and generated text. Next, choose whether you would like your clothing stamp content to be left, center, or right justified, and decide if you would like a border. With several ways to customize your stamp, you can create various fabric stamps for diverse uses.

Tips for Using Stamps on Clothing

  • Pre-wash your fabric or clothing to remove sizing. Make sure that the fabric is completely dry before stamping. Consider ironing the fabric or clothing so the stamp can appear accurate and consistent.
  • Before stamping on fabric, decide and mark the exact location that you would like the stamp to appear. For best results, consider using a ruler to measure out the intended area, especially if replicating the same look on several pieces of fabric. Mark the location.
  • Use fabric stamps on flat surfaces, such as a table or piece of cardboard.
  • Place a protective material between the fabric and flat surface when applying the ink to avoid staining the surface or underside of the material with the clothing stamp.
  • Press the clothing stamp lightly and evenly onto the inkpad.
  • Test out fabric stamps onto scrap fabric first.
  • Hold fabric stamp on clothing or fabric for a few seconds to enable ink absorption.
  • When removing the fabric stamp, lift up the stamp in one motion to ensure an even stamp.
  • Let dry completely before wearing, ironing, or washing.
  • Allow 24 hours to dry before first washing. This fabric stamp will work on clothing without being heat set.
